LUKE 6:46-49 AMP
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not practice what I tell you? Everyone who comes to Me and listens to My words and obeys them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a [far-sighted, practical, and sensible] man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and yet could not shake it, because it had been securely built and founded on the rock. But the one who has [merely] heard and has not practiced [what I say], is like a [foolish] man who built a house on the ground without any foundation, and the torrent burst against it; and it immediately collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”
The Lord is looking for a people who will not just know the Word, read the Word and see the Word, but believe and obey the Word. The Lord wants our obedience. Part of truly knowing Christ is to honor and adhere to the things he instructed us to do in his Word. We cannot say that we are followers of Christ but fail to adhere (listen, abide, dwell) to his instructions. Disobedience produces bad fruit. To not do as Christ instructs us is heedless behavior.
When we walk in obedience, we are keeping our foundation solid in him. However, if we are walking in the ways of the world, self, and mere flesh, our foundation can easily become like quicksand: Washing our foundation away from shore: Our holy ground! As believers in Christ, we should feel uncomfortable in the state of disobedience. Why? Because this is not meant to be of our nature when connected, yielded and surrendered to the mighty will of The Lord.
There is a promise in obedience. There is a security in the foundation of obedience. Safety abides in obedience. Covering is within obedience. Therefore, strive daily to live as a son or daughter of obedience! Let your foundation be so solid in which nothing can pluck you out of the soil that was established for you to flourish in!
