“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.” The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold [our refuge, our high tower]. Selah.”-PSALM 46:10-11 AMP
Too many times in life we tend to forget who sits high on the throne and reigns. We tend to forget who is in control, who has the ultimate power and who is able to do all things but fail. So many times we worry significantly and try to rationalize things in our own strength, intellect and understanding. However, the Lord desires for us to PAUSE and REST in him: Trusting that it is well and all will be be well when we put our reliance and dependency in his hands.
It is when we can recognize that he is Lord and take the focus off of our situations, circumstances, problems and worries and realize that we serve a great and mighty God who does mighty things, our perspective and state of mind will become aligned in his Word, which brings forth peace, reassurance, rest and renewal.
Being still in the Lord is coming into position and cooperation with him. It is recognizing that we are to trust his timing and arrival, knowing that his plans are far greater than our own. It is acknowledging that his very presence remains and does not forsake! It is honoring his sovereignty and majesty! Being still is realizing that we should never try to get ahead of the Lord, but instead, be willing and open to allow him to interrupt our plans because he KNOWS the perfect plan for us. He gives us a future and a hope as his word tells us in Jeremiah 29:11.
Being still is moving along with the Spirit of the Lord; surrendering to his will and ways because he is the great that we are. He is our Savior, our Hightower, our King, our redeemer, our healer, deliver, way maker, promise keeper, comforter, provider, center of our joy, rest, and peace maker. The list can continue on!
In all, it is when we are in a position of silence, calmness and peace, we can hear and receive from the Lord; knowing that what we place in his hands will forever be safe and secure! He is God alone!
