Being Commissioned

“There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was John. This man came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe [in Christ, the Light] through him. John was not the Light, but came to testify about the Light.” -JOHN‬ ‭1:6-8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

As we see here in these verses, John who was a follower of Jesus Christ was sent out by God to spread the Good News. So what does it mean to be commissioned? Well, to be commissioned by the Lord is to be appointed, consecrated, chosen and set apart. It is also a great assignment or assignments that come with being commissioned. The Fear of The Lord (Reverence)

Proverbs 9:10 Amplified Bible (AMP)

“The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.”


Fear as we know it to be is usually defined with emotions and feelings that are unpleasant or caused by an expectation or awareness of danger, as Merriam-Webster would describe it to be. If you look to the Word of the Lord in defining “fear,” you will see that it is a hindrance.
